The White Noise Trio pushes the boundaries of the classic jazz trio and inspires with atmospheric, almost cinematic compositions.

Inspired by acts such as EST, The Bad Plus and Avishai Cohen, the trio combines open improvisation with complex arrangements in a unique way and takes the audience on an emotionally profound sound journey. At times delicate, introspective, and melancholic, and at others, driving and energetic, their live performances create something truly special.

The three Berlin musicians came together even though – or perhaps because – they come from completely different musical worlds:

When Florian Dupuy (double bass) first decided to pick up a cello, he played classical pieces, and was later engaged by orchestras in Paris, Cambridge, Geneva and Berlin. At the same time, Robin Hartkopf (drums) fell for the complex and energetic grooves of progressive rock and mildly disappointed his father and grandfather, who both have been jazz drummers. And Stefan Merz (piano) regularly sets out at night to perform House and Techno driven live-sets in Berlin, getting into harmonic minimalism and textures.

After almost a decade of intensive collaboration, the musicians have developed a close, intuitive connection and found a common musical language in jazz. Their concerts are not only an experience for jazz lovers, but also appeal to a wider audience who appreciate the emotional depth and creative dynamics of their music.
